Forest management and logging
JSC "Solikamskbumprom" is the largest consumer and procurement of timber in the Perm region. The enterprise's demand for spruce-fir wood is about 1.5 million m3 per year. To provide paper production with wood, JSC "Solikamskbumprom" develops its own logging. The company includes 3 subsidiary logging enterprises located in the Gainsky, Kochevsky and Krasnovishersky districts.
The total area of forests leased by the enterprise is 1 234 thousand hectares with an allowable cut of 2.3 million m3, including 1.3 million m3 for coniferous farming.
Forest management in the leased forest areas is carried out in accordance with the current forest legislation, the forest management policy of the group of logging enterprises of JSC "Solikamskbumprom".
Currently, 23 modern multifunctional logging complexes (Tigercat and JohnDeer) are working on timber harvesting at subsidiaries, which makes it possible to reduce the cost of timber harvesting, as well as reduce the negative impact of timber harvesting on the environment: preserve undergrowth, reduce the degree of damage to the fertile soil layer.
Logging works are carried out in accordance with forest development projects developed by forest management expeditions and passed the state ecological expertise.
JSC "Solikamskbumprom" does not harvest timber in forest areas classified as specially protected natural areas (SPNA):
- in sanctuaries;
- in forests performing water protection, protective, sanitary-hygienic and health-improving functions;
- in forests along the banks of rivers, lakes and reservoirs;
- in forests representing unique natural landscapes or of scientific or historical significance.
The share of timber harvested by subsidiaries in the total timber supply is about 70%. The purchase of wood from third-party suppliers is subject to the provision of documents confirming the legality of the supplied wood.
