Production of timber
Annual consumption of the pulp and paper mill amounts to 1.5 million cubic meters of soft wood. About 67% of raw wood is delivered by road, 25% by water transport during the navigation period on the Kama River, and the rest of the wood comes by rail. In 2002, a processing unit for long-cut timber (tree-length material) designed by FMW (Austria), with a production capacity of 600,000 solid cubic meters per summer navigation season, was put in operation.
All wood delivered to JSC “Solikamskbumprom” is processed at a wood preparation yard equipped with FMW (Austria) conveyor systems. Peeled wood goes to a groundwood pulp production plant, and chips are transported via a conveyor system to a cellulose and thermo-mechanical pulp production facility.
SAALASTI (Finland) Bark Master bark presses help to prepare wood waste for incineration in a Wellons (U.S.A.) power generation unit.
