Newsprint production is energy-intensive. JSC “Solikamskbumprom” annual consumption of electric and heat power is about 1 200 Mio kWh and 1 Mio Gcal, respectively.
On the territory of the joint stock company there is a subsidiary, “Solikamskaya CHPP” Ltd, which provides production shops with process steam and part of electric energy.
As of today, JSC “Solikamskbumprom” gets approximately 50% of consumed electric energy from “Solikamskaya CHPP” Ltd, the rest amount of electricity is purchased from external suppliers.
JSC Solikamskbumprom is provided with 100% of its own heat power, most of which (60%) comes from “Solikamskaya CHPP” Ltd.
Alternative heat sources
For the optimization of energy costs JSC “Solikamskbumprom uses the alternative heat sources.
During wood processing in the newsprint production the following wood waste such as bark, sawdust and so on are produced. The most effective way to use them is burning in order to generate process steam. For the purpose JSC “Solikamskbumprom” put into operation “Wellons” power plant (USA). With starting up of 2 Andritz screw-presses for dewatering and thickening of saving (Austria) the fibrous sediment and surplus of biologically active sludge from sewage treatment plant are additionally utilized on the waste incineration plant.
During the production of TMP a large volume of gas-vapor mixture is produced in refining section and sent to the heat recovery system. From each mWt/h of electric power used for chips refining it is generated up to 0,7 t of process steam, which is sent to paper machines.
Wood waste burning at “Wellons” (USA) incinerator and steam recovery on TMP lines allow to reduce considerably the costs for heat energy generation.
In recent years, much has been done in the company to develop its own energy.
